About the Role:
Reporting to the CEO, the Director is responsible for leading all clinical, lifestyle, and allied health services, ensuring their alignment with Torbay’s strategic plan and core values. This role is pivotal in maintaining full accreditation under the Aged Care Standards and relevant legislation, including the Aged Care Act.
The Director leads the accreditation process, ensures compliance, and works closely with internal stakeholders to implement infection control measures.
The role also involves regular communication with the Executive team and the preparation of monthly board reports to keep leadership informed of clinical operations.
In addition to strategic and compliance responsibilities, the Director provides strong clinical leadership to nursing, allied health, and diversional therapy staff. This includes managing performance, enhancing staff engagement, and addressing clinical care risks and incidents, including restrictive practices and reportable events under the Serious Incident Response Scheme.
In collaboration with the CEO, the Director will develop and manage the clinical budget, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities. Overseeing all clinical, allied health, and diversional therapy expenditures to ensure they remain within approved budgetary limits, will be essential.
The Director also oversees correct claiming processes under AN-ACC or future funding models to ensure revenue optimisation.
In partnership with the Clinical Leadership Team, the Director ensures high-quality care for residents, effective risk management, and continuous improvement in clinical service delivery.
About the Person:
The ideal candidate will hold current, unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and has a willingness to complete the Infection Control Prevention qualification in the first six months.
possess qualifications as an Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead. They will have a sound understanding of aged care funding models and Accreditation Standards, alongside a minimum of five years of management experience, preferably within the aged care sector. A strong history of leading people-centred, high-quality, and compliant care services to enhance resident wellbeing is essential.
The role requires demonstrated experience in people management, including coaching and mentoring teams to support performance and development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital, with the ability to build strong relationships with residents, their families, and team members.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative and compassionate leader who fosters a supportive, high-performing, and resident-focused care environment.
A strong commitment to continuous improvement and a proven ability to drive operational efficiencies is essential.
