What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead and manage the department's corporate taxation responsibilities, collaborating closely with the team to develop and implement a robust framework for compliance with legislative requirements.
- Review and analyze complex taxation matters, ensuring taxation-related issues are identified and properly addressed across all materials.
- Provide specialized advice for policy research and drafting, as well as supporting senior management through briefings and ministerial correspondence.
- Lead a small but high-performing team, guiding them through task allocation, recruitment, performance management, and professional development while fostering a collaborative, diverse, and safe working environment.
- Be the go-to expert, advising key stakeholders on the impact of taxation legislation changes and ensuring compliance across the Department's corporate tax responsibilities.
- Expert Knowledge: You possess comprehensive knowledge of Australian taxation legislation (GST, FBT) and a strong understanding of the Financial Accountability Act 2009, the Financial and Performance Management Standard 2019, and accounting standards.
- Leadership Skills: You have demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams, including performance and capability development, task management, and fostering effective communication within the team.
- Strategic Thinker: Your expertise in the National Tax Equivalents Regime (NTER) will ensure you can offer high-quality advice and support to key stakeholders and employees.
- Communication Excellence: You're skilled in conveying complex taxation concepts clearly and accurately, enabling effective decision-making and policy development.
- A degree in finance, accounting, commerce, or business administration with a focus on taxation (preferred).
- Membership of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, or the Institute of Public Accountants would be highly regarded.
- Proven experience in leading teams and managing taxation-related activities at a senior level.
