As our Principal Project Officer you will:
- Lead the delivery of projects including engaging with the vendors, subject matter experts and business areas to implement new software system solutions.
- Undertake project activities and deliver outcomes by developing and managing elements including formal project plans, budgets, consultation, records and registers in accordance with the approved project management methodologies.
- Generate progress reports, correspondence, briefings and submissions regarding the development, progress and delivery of projects, issues and core business as directed.
- Review, negotiate and manage project outputs ensuring that deliverables meet or clarify stakeholder expectations (e.g. Project Owner, Project Board) and are consistent with the approved project plan and whole-of-government policies.
- Liaise, consult and develop partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactively develop and maintain effective networks, partnerships and relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work effectively in a team.
- Demonstrate strong skills and knowledge in implementing computer software solutions relating to customer management systems.
- Support the preparation and dissemination of high-quality project documents and reports, under the general direction of the project manager and/or sponsor.
- Use recognised project management techniques, methodologies and relevant software as determined by the context and in line with departmental requirements.
- Undertake risk and issue identification, assessment and mitigation activities ensuring risks and issues are documented, reviewed and escalated along with recommendations as appropriate.
- Demonstrate strong skills in documenting system specifications, and training others in their use.
While formal qualifications are not a requirement of the role, project management qualifications and 3 years’ experience in a project lead role will be highly regarded.
Specific technical IT system experience is not necessary however an understanding of systems and information technology environments more generally will be desirable.
