In this role, we are seeking a an experienced professional for the role of Senior Manager within Policy and Governance with a strong focus on secretariat duties.
About the Role:
This role is key to strengthening governance frameworks, supporting board and committee operations, and driving policy development. You will provide expert advice to senior leaders, oversee governance processes, and play a pivotal role in coordinating elections for the Academic Board and Senate. With a strong focus on stakeholder engagement, compliance, and strategic governance initiatives, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert-level governance and secretariat support, including preparing board papers, coordinating multiple committee meetings, and ensuring timely follow-ups.
- Conduct a comprehensive review of governance frameworks, identifying and implementing improvements to enhance effectiveness.
- Develop and embed best-practice governance policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Prepare high-level governance reports, offering strategic recommendations to executive leadership and board members.
- Plan and oversee elections for the Academic Board and Senate, ensuring compliance with governance frameworks and effective stakeholder engagement.
- Manage board and committee meetings end-to-end, including agenda setting, documentation, minute-taking, and action tracking.
- Act as a trusted governance advisor to board members and executives, ensuring compliance with corporate governance requirements.
- Drive governance-related projects, with a focus on improving organisational processes and achieving strategic outcomes.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, ensuring seamless collaboration across internal and external governance functions.
We are seeking a senior Policy & Governance professional with strong company secretarial experience. You will also bring:
- Extensive expertise in board and committee governance, including preparing board papers, managing meeting agendas, and ensuring compliance.
- Proven company secretarial experience in a complex organisational setting.
- Deep understanding of corporate governance frameworks, regulatory compliance, and best-practice policy development.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to advise and influence board members, executives, and key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience leading governance projects and driving process improvements.
- Strong analytical skills with a solutions-focused approach to governance and risk management.
- Tertiary qualifications in law, public policy, business administration, or a related field.
