Our client, an ASX listed manufacturing business based in Sydney’s Western Suburbs is looking to develop it’s leadership team with the recruitment of their first Head of Data. The Role:
 
As a pivotal member of the organization, you will play a crucial role in shaping and driving the evolution of the data landscape. Collaborating closely with the senior leadership team (SLT), you will lead the development of a greenfield environment and craft a forward-thinking, resilient data strategy. Reporting directly to a high calibre Chief Information Officer (CIO), this position is perfect for a dynamic leader with a strong passion for team management, innovative technologies and achieving operational excellence.

Key responsibilities
  • Establish a robust data, automation and integration practice aligned with organizational strategic goals.
  • Define and implement the practice’s vision, objectives, and roadmap.
  • Lead strategy and execution of data, automation, and integration solutions, ensuring seamless data flow across systems.
  • Contribute to the establishment and adherence to data governance practices.
  • Engage with business units to understand data needs and deliver effective solutions.
  • Choose technologies and tools that align with business needs and future scalability.
  • Clearly articulate and measure the impact of automation initiatives.
  • Recruit and lead a skilled team of data engineers, DBAs and automation specialists.
  • Work with IT, business intelligence, analytics and other teams to develop integrated solutions.
  • Effectively update senior leaders and stakeholders on project progress and outcomes.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity and compliance with privacy regulations.

  • Skilled in programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL, Java) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and collaboration abilities.
  • Experience identifying and articulating value in automation and process optimization initiatives.
